Music

At Shalford we aim for children to leave our school with a wide range of rich and happy memories in music, formed through interesting and exciting experiences. These will reflect the world around them but at the same time give them access to musical styles, genres and composers throughout history. We are all musicians and want to use music to celebrate equality and diversity across the infant setting.
Our music curriculum will engage and inspire pupils of all abilities to develop a love of music and their talents as musicians, which will increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.
Children will meet the National Curriculum expectations in music through well planned lessons using guidance from Model Music Curriculum and Kapow to support teaching and learning.
At our school children will gain a firm understanding of music through listening and appraising, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing and composing.
We will ensure every child has the opportunity to learn to play a variety of musical instruments during their time at Shalford.
