Physical Education (PE)

PE at Shalford is taught to inspire children to develop a lifelong interest in physical activity to ensure that they lead and understand the importance of a healthy and active life in the future. An understanding of the importance of this is proven to improve happiness, alertness and performance. Children will develop fundamental movement skills including agility, balance and co-ordination through discretely taught PE lessons each week. We encourage children to be active throughout a PE lesson and employ creativity and imagination in their techniques, tactics and chorography. Children will learn how to collaborate and cooperate as part of an effective team, understanding fairness and equality of play to embed the Shalford values. We recognise that regular participation in PE is paramount to children’s physical, emotional and mental well-being as it instils self-discipline, promotes self-confidence and reduces stress levels.
